Legacy of a Lost Daughter

A narrative memoir about a mind turned against itself — and the decade it took to reclaim it.

At nineteen, desperate to escape an eating disorder, I entered a therapeutic relationship with an untrained, unregulated practitioner whose certainty gradually replaced my judgment. Doubt became proof. My relationships were reframed as toxic. I severed all ties to family and friends — and walked away from the life I'd known.

When the promised healing failed, I disappeared. With no money and only my dog for company, I hitchhiked halfway around the world, crossing continents and oceans in an attempt to recover my life — and my mind.

About

Tauri Cayzer is a writer based in London, England. Legacy of a Lost Daughter is her debut narrative memoir.

Her writing explores coercive control, belief systems, estrangement, and recovery outside institutional frameworks.

The Book

Legacy of a Lost Daughter traces a decade-long arc — from therapeutic abuse and ideological capture, through rupture and dispossession, to a return grounded not in innocence restored, but in responsibility and agency reclaimed.

It will appeal to readers of Educated (Tara Westover), Wild (Cheryl Strayed), and Tracks (Robyn Davidson), and to those interested in the psychological dynamics of coercive control, false memory, and unregulated therapeutic authority.
